International Commedia dell'Arte Festival

Managing Director Kate Meehan, Artistic Director Aaron Johnson, and Company Member Giangiacomo Colli braved "international" travel and trekked up to Windsor, Canada for an International Commedia dell'Arte conference.  While there we took workshops with some of the world's most famous and infamous Commedia dell'Arte practitioners, sat in on a number of fantastic lectures, found the bottom of a number of decent bottles of wine and made lots of beautiful new friends.

Aaron did his best to live tweet the event, and there are loads of wonderful pictures of international maestri now (at least temporarily) housed there.

West Texas Tour

La Fenice brought the Sparrow of Roma to the beautiful Spa at Lajitas and our favorite dusty watering hole, La Kiva.  We also had the tremendous good fortune to teach Commedia dell'Arte to one of the most talented groups of youngsters we've had the pleasure of meeting.

We also managed to coerce the lovely Nola Lafayette into becoming a Company Member at Large - something that makes our crusty old hearts swell two sizes.

Backyard Circuses

We are planning a handful of intimate two-ring backyard circuses this fall, featuring some of our favorite Austin fringe performers.  Guest performers include aerialist Michele Francis, magician John Maverick, the Inheritance, and a special preview from a touring European cabaret duet!

Company Meat Tang

Our annual Company Meat Tangs are rarely much of a burden, but the addition of taste-testing libations for our fall circus, followed by audio commentary for our two recorded performances (Sparrow of Roma and Sloop of the Damned) made for a fairly effortless afternoon.

Incidentally, if you get a chance, give a hearty handshake and/or chest bump to our newest company members:  Heath Allyn, Tate Green and Chickabod Crane.  We have also coerced young Robert Deike to remove his "At Large" status.
